چکیده

A 75-year-old woman was admitted for severe retrosternal chest pain. Her past medical history revealed mild diabetes mellitus and bifasciscular block (left anterior hemiblock [LAHI and incomplete right bundle-branch block [RBBB]). The electrocardiogram was compatible with a subendocardial (non-Q wave) inferior and anterolateral AMI. This was characterized by new ST-segment depression and T-wave inversion in the inferior and anterolateral leads

Histopathology of Heart Block Complicating

Histopathological studies of the conduction system were related to His bundle electrogram recordings in seven patients with acute myocardial infarction and atrioventricular (A-V) conduction disturbances. The three patients with inferior infarctions had normal width QRS complexes and delay or block of the impulses above the His bundle. Recent ischemic changes were present in the A-V node in two ...

SYMPOSIUM Cardiac Arrhythmias (Part 1) Anatomy of the Conduction System

are explained on the basis of anatomic lesions in specific sites of the conduction system or its blood supply. Second-degree A-V block of Mobitz type II, which may be a precursor of complete (third-degree) heart block, commonly is associated with fibrotic lesions of uncertain etiology in the branching part of the bundle of His or the bundle branches. Ischemic lesions are found less often, and o...

Beta Blockers in Cardioprotection after Acute Myocardial Infarction

In post myocardial infarction patients beta blockers have shown a reduction of total mortality (23%), sudden cardiac death (25%) and non fatal reinfarction (30%). Beside beta blockers, only a few agents have shown reduction of mortality and sudden cardiac death in post myocardial infarction patients. Beta blockers have showed more favorable effects In patients with Q wave myocardial infarction ...

Concealed conduction: an indication for temporary demand pacing.

A lthough cardiac pacemakers have a proved place in the treatment of chronic heart block,1,2 there have been some differences of opinion regarding the efficacy of artificial pacing in heart block complicating acute myocardial infarction. Second degree atrioventricular (A-V) block can be divided into type I (Wenckebach) and type II ( ‘sI bjt ) . The former is the type usually associated with inf...

The Wenckebach phenomenon and auricular-ventricular dissociation in children.

The Wenckebach type of heart block is characterized by a progressive lengthening of the P-R interval until A.V. conduction fails and a beat is dropped. This fornm of heart block was first described as a clinical entity by Wenckebach (1899) on the basis of radial arteriograms. Since then, this phenomenon has been seen in a variety of conditions including digitalis poisoning, rheumatic fever, ton...
